LOOKING FORWARD

3663 has 4 broad corporate environmental objectives:

• To reduce the risk of pollution at all sites
• To reduce the packaging obligation
• To reduce the quantity of waste sent to landfill
• To reduce the environmental impact of resource consumption

Improvement targets are set in each of the objective areas above at a corporate level and management programmes are developed to achieve results.

Locally, improvement targets are agreed, again under one of the objective headings, managed and monitored through the Business Excellence Assessment process which is operated by the First for Service Department.

Achievements
Centrally managed improvement programmes:

Phase one of the oil and diesel tank upgrade completed. New facilities installed at Battersea, Edenbridge, Gateshead, Northampton, Severnbridge and Worthing.

Drainage survey, production of drainage plans and yard drainage colour coded in accordance with Environment Agency guidelines at depots completed.

Development of a standard specification document featuring environmental requirements for new build and refurbishment works, see Building programme

Formalisation of procedures for ensuring compliance with the packaging obligation.
